GENERAL: Named to the NYCBL All-Star Team last summer...A gifted catcher with a strong arm and a developing, potent bat...Was one of team's top producers on offense as a freshman, earning playing time as a designated hitter when not behind the plate...Clutch hitter and efficient in driving in runs...A strong, defensive catcher who can handle the pitching staff...Expected to anchor the catcher position, while also seeing occasional time at the corner infield positions.

AS A JUNIOR: Started 24 of 29 games he appeared in...Missed half of the season with injury...Hit .289 with six home runs, 17 RBI and 16 runs scored in 83 at bats...Also drew 10 walks to lead all Siena reserves with a .390 on-base percentage...Led the team averaging one home run every 13.8 at bats...Posted six multi-hit games...Finished season with three-game hit streak, going 6-for-10 with four runs scored and two RBI against Iona (5/9-10)...Went errorless behind the plate.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Appeared in 16 games, making all 11 of his starts behind the plate before suffering a season-ending injury...Accumulated a career-long six-game hit streak from 3/1-22...Drove in 11 runs in just 37 at-bats...Hit a team-best .409 with runners on base and .471 with runners in scoring position...Drove in a career-high four runs and tied a career-best with three hits at Central Florida (3/15)...Concluded his season with a two-run double at Manhattan (4/6).

AS A FRESHMAN: Started 23 of the 36 games he played...Collected 30 hits in 91 at bats for an average of .330...Scored 15 runs and tallied 17 RBI...Hit three home runs and added five doubles...Led the team with a slugging percentage of .484 and an on-base percentage of .411...Went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI and a run scored in a win at Fairfield (4/28)...Went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 5-3 win in the front end of a doubleheader against Canisius (5/12).

BEFORE SIENA: Named Most Valuable Player for Lenape as a junior...Member of All-Conference Second Team in 2005...Played in the Carpenter Cup in 2006...Received All-Conference First-Team accolades as a senior...Finished senior season batting .441 with a .780 slugging percentage, three home runs and 26 hits in 20 games.

ROSSI ON DERHAGOPIAN: "Gary was again hit by the injury bug last year, and missed half the season. He has come back healthy this year and will be counted on heavily to anchor the catching department.
