“Anthony is a talented young coach, and he has a bright career ahead of him,” said head coach Tony Rossi upon Spataro's appointment. “He has a lot of energy, is highly motivated, and possesses a great personality. He’s been a high profile instructor in the Capital Region, and has established strong relationships with the local high schools.”
Spataro matriculates to Siena following a two-year stint as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Division III SUNY Brockport. He helped guide the Golden Eagles to a 46-35 overall record the past two seasons, and was instrumental in the development of seven All-Conference selections including the 2017 Brockport Freshman Student Athlete of the Year.
Spataro also coached locally the past two summers as an assistant with the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, which he helped lead to a 76-29 record and the 2016 league championship. During his tenure, nine Mohawks were named PGCBL All-Stars, one was named the PGCBL Player of the Year, and one was tabbed the league’s top prospect.
Spataro began his coaching career as a student assistant coach at the College of Charleston for the 2015 season where he worked predominantly with the infielders, namely 2015 Colonial Athletic Association Player and Defensive Player of the Year Blake Butler. The Cougars posted a 45-15 record that spring which included 21 league victories, advanced to the Tallahassee Regional Final as the No. 2 seed, and finished the season ranked 18th nationally.
Spataro is a 2016 graduate of The College at Brockport with a degree in Kinesiology, and is finishing his graduate studies in Athletic Administration.
