Cross Country Set For MAAC Championship

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams travel down to Holmdel, New Jersey for the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Cross Country Championship set to take place on Saturday, October 28. The women will take on the 6K at 11 a.m., while the men race in the 8K at 12 p.m.

The Saints are set to lineup against their league foes. The men are gunning for Iona, who has not lost a MAAC Championship since 1990. Last season, Siena finished in fifth place with 141 points.

Last season, Evans Kibet earned his first and Siena's first male All-Conference honoree with his 15th place finish. From last years top-six, four of the men's runners return. This year, the men have finished in the top five at five of their six races, including a first-place finish at the Siena Short Course Twilight Meet.

The women took seventh last year with 142 points, which was just behind Marist who finished with 140 points. The women are racing to meet Iona who won last year with 49 points and has taken the title 11 times in the past 12 championships.

On the women's side, Sarah Forman earned All-Conference honors last year with her 13th place finish. Her 22:10.04 was the second fastest MAAC Championship time in Siena history. This year, the women have finished in the top eight in all six meets ran, including a first-place finish at the Siena Short Course Twilight Meet.
