Both the Siena men's and women's cross country teams finished the season strong Saturday as the men raced to an 18th place finish while the women came in 22nd at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. Seniors John Farley and Brina Seguine concluded their Siena careers by pacing both the men's and women's teams.
"We ended the season on a really strong note today," commented head coach Alison Wade. "The men's team had the best race they've had in years, and definitely the best I've seen since I arrived at Siena."
Farley led the Siena contingent on the men's side, running the 8K IC4A race in a time of 27:46.4. Teammate David Ellsworth wasn't far behind and also broke the 28-minute barrier with a time of 27:48.0.
Ryan Egan (28:01.3), Ian Donnelly (28:13.5), Davin Piispanen (28:20.5) and Alex Liontas (28:31.8) rounded out the Siena leaders.
On the women's side, Seguine led all Siena runners with a 69th place finish, running the ECAC 5K race in a time of 19:53.7.
"Brina ran one of her best races of the season to lead the team in her last collegiate cross country race," added Wade.
Meghan Yi ran second for the Saints with a 5K personal record time of 20:57.3. Rounding out the Siena leaders was Christy Bak (21:26.4).
