Siena cross country took off into the new season at the Nassaney Invitational hosted by Bryant University. The men finished fifth, while the women finished sixth as a team.
The women were led by freshman Morgan Serkes who finished 28th overall with a time of 19:17.9. Following just behind her was fellow freshman, Monica Strain, who took 29th overall with a time of 19:22.6. Serena Rizzo came through the chute in 19:36.7 to pick up points for the Saints. To round out the scoring Meghan McDonough and Carissa Kahn finished in respective spots of 35th and 37th. McDonough came through in 19:39.7, while Kahn’s time was 19:54.0.
On the men’s side, freshman Aidan Canavan took 11th place overall with his 8K time of 26:55.0. Jacob Greski took 28th place with his 27:43.0 time. Grant Norton was the third Saint through the finish line at 28:06.5. Devin Laudenschlager and Michael Carroll came in as the fourth and fifth donning the Green and Gold in 28:49.0 and 28:58.3, respectively. Ittai Rosales put up points for Siena with his 29:55.6 time, while Daniel Medici rounded out the scoring with his finish in 30:19.8.
Siena will travel to Monmouth University on Saturday, Sept. 16 as they host the Henry Mercer Monmouth Cross Country Invitational on the same course the Saints will visit for the MAAC Championship.
