Siena Women Race to Seventh in Opening Meet

The Siena women's cross country team placed five runners in the top 50, en route to a seventh place finish (13 teams) in their openeing meet Saturday morning in New Britain, Connecticut. The men's team placed ninth.

Twin sisters Kim and Michelle Milton, Kelsey Hanno and Kate Luker each finished the 5K course in under 20 minutes to pace the Saints. Freshmen Brian Knifping placed 30th to lead the men's team. Knifping ran 9K in 28:30.

In the men's race Boston College finished ahead of second place Holy Cross and Syracuse who finished in third place. Shawn Wallace of Boston College was the top finisher in the men's field, his time was 25:57.2 Central Connecticut's Matt Kalinski (Greenwich, CT) was the runner-up in the men's race finishing with a 26:11.3.

In the women's race the University of Rhode Island finished as the runner-up with UCONN just behind them. Boston College's Julie Spolidoro was the top finisher in the women's race, her time 17:20.0. Finishing in a close second was UCONN's Julie Casilli with a time 17:24.5.Top finisher for the Blue Devils was Kim Crowely who finished in 24th place with a time 19:29.1.
