After rain pushed the second day of the ECAC/IC4A Championship to Sunday, Evans Kibet and Sarah Forman competed in their races with nothing but sunshine at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University.
“This meet is a really important weekend for us,” said head coach John Kenworthy. “Running a qualifying time is certainly on all of our athlete’s minds through the year. It provides a great stepping stone for those looking to build and eventually qualify for the NCAA meet and it gives us something bigger to shoot for after the MAAC Champs conclude. We’re fortunate to bring four athletes and have three scoring/All-East performances. It shows that our best athletes can show up and step up, on an even bigger stage. I hope we get to bring more and more athletes back in the future.”
Forman first toed the line in the 1500m. She took fifth place overall against 28th student athletes. She not only set a personal record of 4:27.41 in the race, but she now holds the school record for the event.
Kibet then took on the 800m finals against 46 racers. The freshman took seventh place overall. He broke his own school record with his time of 1:51.26.
Forman then took on the 3000m race to finish out the Saints track year. She took sixth overall with a time of 10:00.14.
