Siena Off To Fast Start At Sam Howell Invitational

Siena Men's and Women's track programs took part in the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday evening.

"With how cold and windy the conditions were through the afternoon we really were able to put up some great performances," said head coach John Kenworthy. "They might not show on the leaderboards but when you can tough through less than ideal weather it will help when you have that perfect night. Hopefully that comes soon!"

Freshman Evans Kibet got things started quickly for the Saints as he took the school record with his 800m run. Kibet won his heat and finished fifth overall with his time of 1:53.64.

Sarah Forman set a personal best time of 4:32.68 in the 1500m run. Forman finished third overall with her time. Serena Rizzo took third in her heat with a time of 4:56.00.

On the men's side, Travis Fairlee won his heat in the 1500m. Fairlee finished in 4:01.86 that placed him in 10th overall.

In the 5000m, Kelly Pasko took 13th place overall with a 17:18.38 time. Shannon Bauer and Dominica Bleichert ran the 5000m in respective times of 17:43.63 and 18:23.98.

Andrew Canavan and Nick Cornine took on the 5000m on the men's side. Canavan finished in 15:14.83, while Cornine finished in 15:25.54.



Both programs will take part in the Rider Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 8 beginning at 11 a.m.
