Siena Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams ran at the ECAC/IC4A Championship in the preliminary day. Both the men's DMR team and Forman advanced to the finals.
"I'm really happy with how our group performed today, said head coach John Kenworthy. "We made the decision to not enter Evans and Luciano in open events that they had qualified for an instead go after a sub-10:00 DMR and a chance to make the finals as a relay. They certainly stepped up and hit both of those goals in a big way. I'm excited for them to get a chance to run again tomorrow. Sarah ran a gutsy and smart race to make the final as well. She has run a personal best and school record every time she's raced the mile this winter, her consistency in both running fast and making smart moves to finish high and advance has become her greatest strength."
To start off the day, Siena's DMR squad of Travis Fairlee, Jacob Greski, Luciano Fiore and Evans Kibet set the school record and qualified for the finals with a 9:57.24 time. Their time was good enough to finish third in the prelims. The men will compete in the finals on Sunday at 2:20 PM.
Sarah Forman set a personal and school record with her 4:52.52 time in the mile. With that time she qualified for the mile finals on Sunday at 12:10 PM.
Besides the Men's DMR and Forman in the mile, the women will compete in the ECAC DMR at 11:00 AM.
