After day one of the MAAC Championships, the Siena Men’s and Women’s Track Program have a lot to look forward to during day two. Two Saints advanced to the finals, including freshman Evans Kibet who finished first in the prelims.
Kibet broke his own school record for a first place finish in the 800m prelims to move into the finals on Sunday. His time of 1:54.93 set him ahead of the pack to toe the line in the finals tomorrow at 6:05 p.m.
Travis Fairlee finished the mile in 4:22.20. This was the eighth best in the prelims and sent Fairlee into the finals that will take place on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
Senior Nick Cornine finished the 5000m in 15:22.19. The senior will compete in the 3000m race on Sunday at 7:05 p.m.
Senior Kelly Pasko set a personal record and her second sub 18-minute 5000m this season. She finished third overall with a time of 17:37.49.
The men’s distance medley relay took fourth place overall, while the women finished in eighth with a new school record.
On Sunday, the women will look forward to sophomore Sarah Forman qualified for the ECAC Championship and has the fastest 3000m time for the MAAC this season of 9:54.59. She also set the school record in the mile of 5:03.94 which is eighth fastest time in the MAAC. Forman competes in the final 3000m race at 6:35 p.m. on Sunday. Seniors Shannon Bauer and Pasko compete in the 3000m race with Forman.
The 4x400m relay teams will compete with the women going first at 7:30 p.m. followed by the men at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday.
