The mission of Siena's intramural program is to offer a fun, recreational outlet for the Siena community through sport competition and fitness related activities. The athletics department is dedicated to providing a dynamic and progressive "competition for all" environment in which members of our college community, student athletes and non-student athletes, faculty and staff alike, can take part in recreational competition.
The intramural program at Siena College is in the development stages and continues to grow as new staff is added and trained in a more formal setting. Entering the 2012-2013 academic year the program offered flag football, speed soccer, and softball as outdoor sports. Volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, and indoor soccer were offered as indoor sports. As the Fall 2012 semester came to a close, plans were finalized and kickball and team handball leagues were added to the slate of sports to be offered during the Spring 2013 semester and futsal (a sport similar to indoor soccer) has replaced the traditional indoor soccer leagues. As far as non-sport activities are concerned, Siena Intramurals now offers multiple yoga and zumba classes each week. Prior to the 2012-2013 academic year the program occasionally offered these classes. Yoga and zumba are now weekly staples of our program each semester. The intramural program at Siena College is open to full-time students, faculty, and staff.
All intramural sports take place on the Siena campus. The Marcelle Athletic Complex houses all of the indoor intramural events. All outdoor events are held outside behind the athletic facility on the turf field. All intramural events are free of cost to full-time students and staff.
Siena Intramurals now incorporates the use of IM leagues (www.imleagues.com) for the administration of our program. This progressive website helps to create and schedule leagues, track player stats in various sport leagues throughout a student's collegiate career, and track student and faculty participation statistics among other things. The site also serves as a very helpful tool in quickly communicating important information to all participants. This website plays an integral role in the continued growth of Siena Intramurals.
