Siena Women's Basketball & CRAAB!
The partnership between Siena Women's Basketball and CRAAB! is now in its 15th year! In 1999 former coach Gina Castelli approached the late Dr. Patricia Brown, a professor of Biology at Siena College and a founder and president of CRAAB!, about collaborating on a breast cancer awareness event at one of her team's home games. From Dr. Brown and CRAAB!, Coach Castelli learned about the issues surrounding the epidemic and wanted to spread that knowledge to others, especially young women. So began the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Basketball Game hosted by the Siena Saints Women's Basketball Team and CRAAB! This event has become an annual highlight for both the Saints and CRAAB! It has evolved over the years to include more community partners, more displays and raffles, education tables and spectators that show their support by wearing pink. Before the game tip-off the recognition of local breast cancer survivors takes place to inspire those around them. The Pink Zone Reception celebrates the 15thAnniversary of the Breast Cancer Awareness Basketball Game. We thank you for your participation and continued support.

Laura Menges (Young Professional)
Laura Menges has been a part of the Siena Community for over a decade, first as a student athlete on the women's basketball team and then as the Athletic Marketing Manager, until this past season. As a player, the annual Pink Zone game was one of her favorite games because it was more than just a basketball game, it was about the survivors and raising awareness and funds for CRAAB!. During her time as the Athletic Marketing Manager, Menges was able to help organize and structure this event while growing attendance, awareness, and funds. Working with CRAAB!, the steering committee, and the Siena Community she was able to help raise over $120,000 during her five years in this position. She is happy that she got to experience both sides of this event, as a player and a committee member, and is truly honored to be chosen to receive this award.
Deborah Dascher Knight (Community Leader)
Deborah Dascher Knight founded Addie's Trinkets in 1996. Addie's sells costume jewelry, pins and brooches and related breast cancer items with the sole purpose of raising funds to be donated to various breast cancer support and research organizations while continuing to raise daily awareness of breast cancer. The items are easily worn by someone going through cancer treatments as a form of encouragement, or by anyone as an expression of support.
