Last year's event raised a record $25,853 for the Capital Region Action Against Breast Cancer. Our goal this year is to raise $30,000 for CRAAB! and we need your help! 2013 Power Up the Pink Awardees

Janice Pastizzo

Pastizzo has over thirty years of experience in the health, fitness, and wellness fields as a nurse, behavioral therapist, health consultant, group fitness instructor, obesity and eating disorder specialist, and motivational speaker promoting healthy lifestyle habits throughout the Capital Region. For the past 14 years she has been Owner and Director of Fit For Life Wellness in Clifton Park where a variety of health, fitness and wellness programs are offered, including group exercise classes, individual lifestyle counseling, nutrition workshops and behavior modification sessions.

Pastizzo has provided pilates classes, weight management and wellness classes for the Capital Region Action Against Breast Cancer (CRAAB!), Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the American Cancer Society "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer", the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, National Kidney Foundation, Saratoga Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis, Unity House, Equinox Domestic Violence, and Captain Youth & Family Services among others.

Mandy Marchesini

A senior at nearby Colonie Central High and a native of Loudonville, Marchesini has been involved with CRAAB! since she was in the third grade. She especially enjoys volunteering at the Pink Zone game each year and feels truly inspired by the breast cancer survivors she has met. She has put together gift bags for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and organized a "Cookies for Cancer" drive, baking Christmas cookies and delivering them to cancer patients throughout the Capital District.

Marchesini has participated in numerous other community service projects including playing in the Powder Puff football game for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, making blankets for the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center, serving as a reading tutor at Shaker Road Elementary School and serving as a counselor for several local softball clinics. She has also volunteered at the Regional Food Bank and Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk.

Barbara McHale

Throughout her career, McHale has been an inpatient oncology nurse, outpatient oncology clinic/infusion nurse, Hospice nurse, Public Health nurse and Manager and Breast Navigator at Samaritan Hospital's Women's Health Center in nearby Troy, N.Y. In her position, she sees and treats patients diagnosed with Breast, Colon, Head and Neck and Lung cancers.

Additionally, McHale has performed volunteer work with groups such as the ACS and Alzheimer's Society and held board positions with the Visions of Strength and Nancy Clemente Fund.

CRAAB Programs and Services

The partnership between Siena Women's Basketball and CRAAB! is now in its 13^th year! In 1999 former coach Gina Castelli approached the late Dr. Patricia Brown, a professor of Biology at Siena College and a founder and president of CRAAB!, about collaborating on a breast cancer awareness event at one of her team's home games. From Dr. Brown and CRAAB!, Coach Castelli learned about the issues surrounding the epidemic and wanted to spread that knowledge to others, especially young women. So began the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Basketball Game hosted by the Siena Saints Women's Basketball Team and CRAAB! This event has become an annual highlight for both the Saints and CRAAB! It has evolved over the years to include more community partners, more displays and raffles, education tables and spectators that show their support by wearing pink. Before the game tip-off the recognition of local breast cancer survivors takes place to inspire those around them. The Pink Zone Reception celebrates the 13^thAnniversary of the Breast Cancer Awareness Basketball Game. We thank you for your participation and continued support.

CRAAB! (Capital Region Action Against Breast Cancer)

CRAAB! (Capital Region Action Against Breast Cancer) is a nonprofit organization created in 1997 that provides a wide variety of support services for survivors and caregivers, as well as education about cancer research, treatment options, and possible risk education strategies for survivors, their families and the general public. CRAAB! partners with many local businesses and schools like Siena College to continue to spread knowledge about their services and breast cancer awareness. Honorary Committee and Rose Gold Committee

            Want to be more involved in the Pink Zone event!? Now is your chance to become a member of the Honorary Committee. On February 15, 2013  you will have the opportunity to show the Capital Region your support along with Siena Women's Basketball and CRAAB! With just $50.00 you will become a member of the honorary committee, you will also be invited to join us at the Pink Zone Reception for a buffet of hearty appetizers and beverages, as well as a silent auction and a chance to meet head coach Ali Jaques. Local businesses can join the Rose Gold Committee for just $100.00 and receive the same great benefits. Your efforts will be also recognized in the Pink Zone Events Program. This year we are looking to make the Reception bigger and better, and we need you to give "an assist" to our goals!

Sponsorship

            We need YOU on our Survivorship Support Team, which you can join by becoming a sponsor of Pink Zone Night! It is the largest winter breast cancer awareness event in the Greater Capital Region, last year the event brought in the highest attendance rate of the season for Siena Women's Basketball, with over 1,000 people in the crowd. The Pink Zone game attracted hundreds of families, college and high school students, community groups, health organizations, and cancer survivors and their caregivers.

Depending on your level of sponsorship you will be gratefully acknowledged in the Pink Zone Reception program, with signage at the Pink Zone Reception, signage at the Pink Zone game as well as throughout the evening by audio announcement during the basketball game.

Flash Mob

NEW this year at the Pink Zone Game is our first-ever Flash Mob and we need YOU to be a part of it. By joining the flash mob, you receive a ticket to the game, a flash mob clinic Pink Zone t-shirt, two flash mob clinics run by Anthony Gargiula and his AG Dance Crew and you will perform at halftime of the Pink Zone game!
