Final exams are complete and the semester break is upon us! The fall has been a busy time for the entire campus, and in the athletic department.
It was recently announced that Siena will host the 2017 and 2018 State Summer Games for Special Olympics New York. Our team in athletics worked with the College's conference services offices to put together the winning bid to host the games. It's an honor to host such dedicated athletes and the large group of people who support them, and the production will be an entire campus effort.
This fall saw the completion of Phase 1A of the ARC and MAC renovation project. The centerpiece of Phase 1A was the completion of an enclosed 8,360 square foot practice court for men's and women's basketball, which is just a few steps away from each team's locker room. Phase 1B is in progress, and includes new hitting cages for baseball and softball. A look at the entire project can be seen here.
This fall also saw three of our teams - men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball - advance to the semifinals of their respective MAAC Tournaments. The men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball teams each received numerous conference honors as well.
Conference play in basketball will resume shortly. The men's and women's schedules can be found at www.sienasaints.com. You can find ticket information on the website's ticket home page. There, you can also live chat with a Fan Relations Management Center ticket representative, call them, e-mail them, or buy tickets online.
Thank you to everyone who supports our student athletes by contributing to the Saints Alive! Athletic Fund. You can read about the various activities that Saints Alive! runs which raise the necessary funds that provide our student athletes with a college sports experience.
