Last week was our annual "Blessing of the Student Athletes" which signifies for us in athletics the beginning of another academic year. College Chaplain Fr. Larry Anderson, OFM led the blessing for over 325 student athletes, many of whom lit a candle in remembrance or tribute to someone important in their lives. This annual event is a reminder that our student athletes are keepers of Siena's values and strive to live them every day.
As the coaches and athletes prepare for another season, a quick reflection on the summer. Work began on the Alumni Recreation Center renovation project. The basketball practice court is nearing completion and will be ready for the start of official, full-team practice. The athletic communications office is doing regular photo updates on twitter (@SienaSaints), and on our website.
With the school year underway, we have some fall events coming up. On September 15th will be the annual Siena Basketball Key Bank Sneak Preview, and on October 13th the popular Festa Vino, which is held in conjunction with the College's Development and External Affairs office. Also, many coaches will be holding alumni games this fall. You can contact the coaching staffs directly through their emails for more information and to RSVP.
