Head athletic trainer Greg Dashnaw has hired Brian McElroy to serve on his staff as a full-time assistant trainer beginning today. McElroy graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2010 and earned his master's degree from Seton Hall in May.
"Brian will be a key member of our team, and provide an invaluable service to our student athletes," Dashnaw said. "I'm very excited to have him on board, and confident he is a great fit for the Siena community."
McElroy gained valuable clinical experience serving Division I athletes this past year at Princeton University. He provided pre-activity preparations, rehabilitation programs and practice and game coverage for several teams, including football and men's lacrosse.
As an undergraduate at URI, McElroy worked directly with the training staff and assisted in every practice and game during spring football season. Upon graduation he worked at South Plainfield and Jackson Memorial High School in New Jersey, assisting in the care for over 800 student athletes from the fall of 2010 to the spring of 2011.
