MAAC Extends Partnership with Disney Sports Through 2010

July 13, 2006

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Disney Sports have agreed to extend their relationship through the 2010 season, continuing to host the MAAC's fall championships at Disney's Wide of Sports Complex on a four-year rotating basis.

As part of the deal, the MAAC will host the following fall championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex: the 2007 Men's Soccer Championship, the 2008 MAAC Cross Country Championships, the 2009 Women's Soccer Championship and the 2010 Volleyball Championship.

"The MAAC membership is pleased to extend its championship agreement with Disney Sports Attractions," MAAC Commissioner Richard J. Ensor said. "Walt Disney World is the leader in family entertainment and the sports complex is a world class facility. The venues will provide MAAC student-athletes, coaches and fans a great experience and the multi year plan allows families to plan ahead to attend the championship their son or daughter is scheduled to compete in during their four-years of college education and MAAC competition."

"This is truly a testimony to the commitment that the MAAC and their member institutions have to the student's athletic experience," Sports Account Manager for Disney Sports Attractions Fred Schoeler said. "It is our goal to make these championships the most memorable experience of their athletic careers."

The MAAC has held its four fall championships on a yearly rotation at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex every year since 1998. The league also continues to host its Men's & Women's Golf Championship at the Palm and/or Magnolia Golf Course each spring.
