Catino, Holle, McGraw Named to Inaugural Capital District Hall of Fame Class

Siena College standouts Michael Catino '80, Gary Holle '76 and Kevin McGraw '82 were among 76 people inducted into the Capital District Hall of Fame's initial class Sunday afternoon at the Terrace Ballroom in Schenectady.

Players were chosen for their full body of work, from high school through college and pro ball.

The induction class included women only as daughters to other players or coaches. There will be a separate class for females in the next induction class.

Catino, who attended Schenectady's erstwhile Linton High School stands 22nd on Siena's all-time scoring charts. He joined the program during its first Division I season in 1976-77 and totaled 1,238 points in his career (14.9/game). Catino still stands as the only player in program history to score 40 points or more twice in his career (and he did so in consecutive games).

Holle, who excelled at baseball and basketball at Siena and Troy's Catholic Central High School, is widely regarded as one of the top athletes to ever attend the College. He is one of four Siena graduates to have played in the major leagues, enjoying a brief tenure with the Texas Rangers in 1979. In 1975, he posted a .527 batting average, a .638 on-base percentage and a 1.138 slugging percentage. All three numbers still rank atop the school's all-time lists. In just two seasons on the hardwood as a varsity athlete, Holle totaled 968 career points - an average of 20.6 points per game. His 1974-75 season total of 515 points (20.6/game) stands as the 17th best output in program history and he is one of just two players (Fred Shear) to have averaged over 20 points twice in his career.

McGraw is 24th on Siena's all-time scoring charts having scored 1,217 points from 1978-82. He averaged better than 16 points per game in each of his final two seasons with the program. McGraw, who attended Christian Brothers Academy, shot better than 50% (51.2%) from the field for his career.

Guest speakers at the overflow event included Syr¬acuse University head coach Jim Boeheim and columnist Peter Vecsey of the New York Post.
