Siena College Names Outstanding Academic Athlete Honorees

18 of Siena College's finest student athletes have been honored with outstanding academic athlete awards. All seniors, the honorees will graduate from Siena on Sunday after successful careers in Loudonville that included success on the field and in the classroom.

An Accounting major, David Bonzerato captained the men's soccer team this season. He has carried a 3.55 cumulative GPA, including a 3.92 GPA for classes taken during the Fall 2011 semester.

A Philosophy major, Katie Carew captained swimming and diving to its fifth consecutive winning season in 2011-12. She carries a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Ian Donnelly and David Ellsworth both represent men's cross country. Donnelly carries a 3.5 cumulative GPA in Biology, while Ellsworth maintains a 3.77 mark in Biochemistry.

Julie Juchno is Siena women's golf's lone senior. She carries a 3.53 cumulative GPA in Biochemistry, and will graduate Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Kristen Lange was a four-year member of Siena swimming and diving. An English major, she graduates with a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Allie Primo was a four-year starter for Siena women's lacrosse from 2008-11.

Jenn Reich played field hockey for four years. An English Education major, she graduates with a 3.52 cumulative GPA.

A four-year member of women's soccer. Cara Riley spent this past year as a part of women's cross country. An Accounting major, she carries an amazing 3.96 cumulative GPA.

Traci Robertson led Siena water polo in assists, points, and ejections drawn this past year. She carries a 3.9 cumulative GPA, and graduates Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Nicole Ross spent four years on the women's tennis team. A Mathematics major, she'll graduate with a 3.51 cumulative GPA.

A Psychology major, Jill Roth represents Siena women's soccer. She carries a 3.54 cumulative GPA.

A standout on the women's tennis team, Jasleen Sandhu also excelled academically. An Economics major, she graduates with a 3.92 cumulative GPA.

The third honoree from Siena swimming and diving, Emily Schultz graduates with a 3.76 cumulative GPA in Biochemistry.

Catherine Shomo was a four-year member of Siena women's golf from 2007-11. She co-captained the team as a senior.

Nicco Stento represents the baseball team. A Finance major, he carries a 3.55 cumulative GPA.

Sarah Szewczyk co-captained Siena field hockey in 2011. She graduates with a 3.76 cumulative GPA in Marketing.

Meghan Yi was also voted Siena College's Student of the Year. A member of women's cross country, she graduates with a 3.79 cumulative GPA and is another member of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

The student athletes will be honored in a ceremony scheduled for Saturday morning in the Maloney Great Room at the Sarazen Student Union. Graduation is scheduled for Sunday at the Times Union Center.
