Bill Kirsch Joining Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame

Bill Kirsch, the former legendary player, coach, and athletic director of Siena College will be inducted into the Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame on Sunday, July 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, New York.

As athletic director, Kirsch played a huge role in Siena's ascension to Division I status in 1976. He helped shape and guide the athletic programs at Siena with great success, and hired current Siena athletic director John D'Argenio, and former coach Mike Deane.

As a Siena player, Kirsch hit one of the most memorable shots in program history - a three-quarter court buzzer beater to defeat Iona at Madison Square Garden in 1954. As a coach, Kirsch coached Siena greats Gary Holle Sr., Dinny Cahill, John Murray, Mike Catino, Fred Daniels, Kevin McGraw, Chris Rutnik, Tom Babcock, John Williams, Steve Walters, Vernon Asquith and many others.

The Upstate New York Basketball Hall of Fame will honor the life and career of this Siena legend on Sunday, July 13. Tickets for the event are $75 and can be purchased by calling 518-877-5170.
