My name is Tom Hopkins and I was once a proud member of the Siena athletic community. I came to Siena to pursue a baseball dream, but I found something I didn't know I was looking for. Her name is Laura Risley and she and I were graduating members of the 2008 Siena Saints.
I first noticed Laura as I was walking into the ARC for practice when I noticed a beautiful unassuming girl behind the counter. I didn't have enough courage to go up to her, but she stayed in my thoughts throughout practice. After practice I went back, with my planned out joke, but she wasn't there, her shift ended at 6.
I didn't see her again until weeks later. I turned past the crowd and there she was. Out of sheer panic, I said the first thing that came to my mind: "I forgot my swipe can you open the doors for me." The joke did not seem to go over well.
That happened over six years ago. Since then, the girl who once was a beautiful looking stranger, is now my beautifully minded girlfriend. For about a year now I have wanted to propose, I have been both ring and house shopping... and I want to start our true life together, but we are both young teachers saving what little we can.
I want to give her everything she deserves and more. Laura is the best thing to ever happen to me and it is long overdue that I make that clear to the rest of the world.
